Folklore Candle Co.

A few years ago I decided to do my Christmas shopping in Fort Langley. The town is full of unique stores with quite a few local, Canadian, and handmade products. Although it can be pricey, there are some good finds. One type of business that has sprouted up in excess recently is hand-poured soy candles. This is very much a good and bad thing for me. It’s good because there are now a lot of options for candles that are moderately healthier, but bad because they are not cheap. I purchased quite a few candles from various local and Canadian companies that December, but one candle that especially piqued my interest was that of Folklore Candle Co. I purchased the Wassail scent and completely fell in love.

Folklore is based in London, Ontario and was established in 2017 if the candles are to be believed. I absolutely love the aesthetic. First of all, the jars are extremely beautiful. I am enamoured with the basically black glass matched with the wood tops and fabulous artwork and design on the labels. This style is something I’m very much drawn to. These candles don’t stop at beauty, though, the scents are also amazing. I have never smelled candles like these before or since. Each scent is absolutely delicious and as strong as the day I bought them. I find there are similar notes amongst all the candles, but each one is unique enough to merit buying a separate candle.

The following year, when I went to replace my Wassail candle, I ended up buying every scent available at Farmhouse in Provence, which unfortunately didn’t include Wassail at the time. I never burn Wassail anymore because I haven’t been able to find a replacement and I don’t want to run out. Although all of the scents are delectable, Wassail is my favourite. I see on their page that they have scents that I have not tried yet, and I am resisting temptation to buy more, because I already have 18 candles in the house. I highly recommend these candles if you like earthy scents.
