I’m not going to fight these guys to give them my business. Such a bizarre company. I’ve subscribed twice now. The first time, back in July, I had absolutely no issues and the products were fine. I was expecting a fall box, but they sent a summer box almost immediately, which I got 4 days after I ordered. No complaints there.
In September my card wasn’t charge, and with so many subscription boxes, I didn’t notice until October. I contacted them, and after some back and forth I resubscribed in late October. I received nothing. I e-mailed back a bit later asking if I would receive a fall box, which they said I would. After nothing again I e-mail asking when I should be expecting it. A few days after that they sent a shipping notification, but the box didn’t actually get sent until 11 days after that.
It finally arrived on November 30, or at least that’s what Canada Post said. It was not in my mailbox so I had to start a claim with Canada Post that same day. I didn’t get any updates, but when I checked the tracking again on December 5, it said it had been delivered on December 4, which was a Sunday. Funny they would go to the effort to deliver on a Sunday but not notify me in any way. Pointless activity if you ask me.
Anyway, now that I have it, I’ve got mixed feelings about it. Granted the box isn’t for me, but Tony didn’t seem too excited about it either. This box’s value is said to be a total of $167.98 before taxes. That’s a pretty good deal, and it’s such a shame that they’re a difficult company to deal with. The charges are supposed to happen December 1, and it is now December 7 at the time of writing and there has been nothing. I feel when one subscribes to something, they shouldn’t have to fight to stay subscribed when they are on the paying end.
Let’s have a look at the box.

Inside the Box

The age of over-sanitizing is over. I hope. I wasn’t big on sanitizer before covid hit, and I’m still not big on it. This is an odd thing to include at this point in time. Peak covid? Oh yeah. People were scrambling for this stuff. Now it’s like “Oh, you overstocked and thought this would be a nice thing to add?” Meh.
To be fair, AG is one of the nicest hand sanitizers out there. I was always happy to see this brand on set compared to the others that smell like tequila. If you’re being forced to sanitize it better smell and feel nice.
Is AG even making this anymore? It’s not listed on their website. You can pick one up in Parksville Pharmasave for $17.99 though, which is almost double the $9.99 valuation here.
AG is a company from Vancouver that manufactures in Vancouver as well.

The website would lead you to believe that this should come in a box. The liquid line is below the label, and there was no safety seal or box, so I’m starting to think this came to us already opened.
The smell is quite nice, and it is manufactured in our roommate Kirsten’s favourite place: Coquitlam!
You can purchase your own bottle online for $53.

It looks like Opagee has turned into Jubel Naturals, which has the website that has difficulty loading half the time. There’s no official announcement that I can find, but http://www.opagee.com, which is listed on the cream bottle redirects to Jubel. This appears to have happened more than 2 years ago. Opagee’s last IG post was February 24 2020.
Because Jubel’s website doesn’t really work, it’s hard to see if this is still something they offer. I could see two types of repair cream, neither scent free, but they were both only $12, whereas this is listed for $30 on the sheet. I hope someone lets Jubel Naturals know that their website is crap. But hey, they are also from Coquitlam! Kirsten would be delighted.
This jar also didn’t have a safety seal, and kind of looks like it may have been opened and used before. The bad vibes keep coming from this Extraordinary Man Box.

BROmance is a company from Toronto.
Uh, wtf… I just opened this jar and it’s half empty. There is an embarassingly little amount of product in this jar. Is this the fault of BROmance, or did Simply Beautiful just off another opened product on me. The more I get through reviewing this box, the more choked I am at the whole experience. I never would have guessed from the first box that this would be the result of the second.
You can buy your own FULL jar for $42 online.

Also likely an old item. On the box’s info sheet it has this tea listed at $15.99, but online it’s listed at $17.99. There’s no best before date on the bag, and it does taste pretty decent, but that doesn’t mean it’s fresh.
Ok, now I’m really thinking this box was from last year, or the year before, or maybe even the year before that. The website listed on this board no longer exists, but it was included in the 2019 Simply Beautiful box, which is the women’s box from BC Living.
This is a nice little cutting board. It’s a good size to keep separate for chopping things like onions, garlic, and peppers, so as to not make other things taste like those.
Overall Impression
Poor, poor Tony. I was really hoping that this would be an awesome gift for him. The main page shows ties, sunglasses, cuff links, books, and other things along with skin care items, but the two boxes have been almost entirely skincare. Not exactly the stuff to thrill the average man. Then on top of that, the items are old and possibly already opened and used. This is not okay. Stay far far away from The Extraordinary Man Box. I am unbelievably disappointed in both their customer service and the products sent. Fortunately, because they are incompetent, or defunct, or whatever, I was not charged for a winter box, so in that I am relieved to not have to deal with them anymore.
Does anyone know of a Canadian box catered towards men that isn’t socks? Let me know in the comments.
