I’ll be honest when I say that the free bonus box was a factor in my subscription. (I’ll review the bonus box in a different post) This subscription is focused on curating products for women over 50 (which I noticed has disappeared from the front page of the site), but honestly I feel that it’s appropriate for anyone. I wonder if the front page was updated to reflect a more inclusive target audience, but it still says for women 50+ in the subscription details, so I’m not sure.
I opted for the 6 box (12 month) commitment to score myself the bonus box, which is $49.95 + tax. Shipping is free with this plan.

Inside the Box
I appreciate the simplicity of this journal. It is spiral-bound with a plastic front, which isn’t exactly environmentally friendly, but does make it more durable. Unlike Loti’s August booklet, which is very specific and not applicable to everyone (at least not to me), this one can change with you, and asks questions that bring about self-awareness. It has enough pages for 60 days, which is approximately when the next box will arrive. I might actually use this one.

This Vancouver-based company has partnered with tea farmers in Kenya to offer them fair wages and us “the freshest, most delicious tea possible.” The tea bags are compostable and plastic free, however the container is not and includes a plastic seal that covers most of the can as well as a plastic window at the top. There is a really lovely section called “Meet your farmer” on the side of the can with a picture and small paragraph about her. I’m always happy to see fair-trade products in my boxes. On Justea’s site, this retails at $11.99.
I also think it’s cute that they put a Swahili word on the bottom of the container. It doesn’t say how to pronounce it, but I looked up a video so an approximation in my own dialect would be “Kwahairy”.
It was really nice for Tammy (Clove Pink’s founder) to include a recipe to try with the tea. So often it’s the little things for me.

When I was young I used to hate lavender, but now it’s one of my favourite scents. I have quite a few lavender plants around my house that I fully enjoy. I don’t think you can have too many bath salts, and I am delighted to add this to my collection. My one complaint is that the plastic window on the package broke, so I have to lay it flat now. When will summer end so I can start taking more baths? This one retails at $5.50 according to their site.

I’m not sure why these had to be printed in China. Not that I have anything against the Chinese, but I know you can have those printed here. These cards retail at $17.99, which I find insane, but everything is getting expensive. $17.99 and printed in China? My my. My guess is that these are to be used in conjunction with the journal if one is lacking inspiration.
I’m not really into inspirational quotes, so this will probably be gifted. It is a beautiful deck of cards and the quality is nice.

I made a mistake in my featured image for this box. For some reason I put this in a black box that it did not come in. Oh well, mistakes will often be made.
So much prickly pear this month! This little 15ml bottle of oil retails at $55 according to their site. Well done, Tammy! That brings the retail value (not including the booklet) to $90.48. I’m impressed. I’m not sure how I feel about the scent. It’s not bad but I don’t know how I’d feel about smelling it all day. The oil is not too oily either. I put some on the back of my hand, which is actually one of the recommended places: face, décolletage, cuticles, hands, and roots of hair. Fascinating. It contains hyaluronic acid, which is supposed to fight the signs of aging. I’ve already started getting age spots on my hand, so I’m wondering if this will help. XD
This company is based in Calgary, and if you drop off your bottles you get 15% off your next purchase.
Overall Impression
Though this is the box with the fewest items, I’m satisfied with what it contained. The bath salts isn’t listed on the product card, so I’m assuming it was a late addition or a bonus item. I’m especially looking forward to trying the tea recipe. I really appreciated the hand-signed “Thank you for your order!” note. Tammy’s goal of sourcing quality, non-toxic, ethically made products supporting Canadian businesses gets a big thumbs up from me. I had already tagged Clove Pink on my instagram story, and now I see that I’ve unintentionally entered myself into a contest to win a free gift. How cool is that.
