I got a baby towel from Loulou Lollipop at my baby shower, and I loved the baby dinosaur design (Baby Dinomite) on it. I saw the same design at Indigo in a sleeper and had to buy it. I soon learned that Loulou Lollipop is a Canadian company and was thrilled, so I went on a late-night postpartum shopping spree.

I ended up buying 5 sleepers directly from their site, the first 3 were for 6-12 months, and the last two for 12-18 months. All except for Baby Dinomite, which I had purchased at Indigo, my son needed to grow into. He obviously eventually did, and at 21 months, my son is still using Planets and Superhero Dog (size 12-18 months). The black on the Planets was gorgeous before I washed it. Because I wash warm and tumble dry, the pilling quickly showed up as white, making it look more grey overall. The pilling is very low, but widespread, which is only noticeable on the other colours if you look hard. I have both Lyocell & Spandex blends as well as Lyocell, Spandex, and Cotton blends. I prefer the cotton blends as they are a little thicker with more structure to them so they fold better.
One nice feature of the sleepers is that both the hands and the feet have extra fabric to fold over, depending on your needs. One issue with the the folded fabric is that it can take a very long time to dry. I have often experienced these sleepers coming out of the dryer with the folds still damp.
The zipper is also really nice and thick, with a generous amount of fabric at the top to keep it from bothering the child’s neck. The zipper also goes both ways, so if you like to unzip from the bottom for diaper changes, that is an option.

Overall Impression
I really like Loulou Lollipop’s designs and I am delighted that the company is Canadian. However, I am disappointed that they, like most clothing companies, do not manufacture in Canada. I know our talent isn’t as good here, but it is something that can be developed. The quality of Loulou Lollipop’s clothing is pretty good, and the zippers are above par.
The Goods:
- Canadian company
- Quality zipper
- Hidden, 2-way zipper
- Good fabrics
The Not-So-Goods:
- Pricey, like everything these days
- Dark colours show pilling
Good for People Who:
- Like cute designs
- Want to support Canadian
- Aren’t broke
I would definitely buy from Loulou Lollipop again if I see a pattern that I especially like.
