This second box of T-Surprise came at the same time as my August one. I like how different it is compared to my Tea Runners subscription. Whereas Tea Runners focuses on gourmet loose leaf teas, T-Surprise sends whatever they want, however they want. I think it’s great.

Inside the Box

Orange creamsicle tea? How is that possible? What an interesting thing to create, and I’m really looking forward to trying it.
Cha Yi is currently only offering their products online. I don’t know if they’re a covid casualty, but they had to close their physical storefront in June of 2022. They are a Quebecois company that imports fine teas from around the world.

This house cannot have too much black tea. Although I haven’t been swayed away from the Earl Gray varieties as my favourites, I am always looking forward to trying more.

The translation of this is comical, although I have now learned something new: in English, the French word “palais” can be translated as both “palace” and “palate”. I read this in French and think “pleasure palace” and not “palate sweetness”, but whatever. I’m not fluent in French, not even close.
This tea contains “gunpowder green tea”, which I had to look up. There is no actual gunpowder in it, which I think should be obvious, but it gets the name from how the leaves look: like gunpowder pellets. This tea also has a lot of fruit flavours in it, which I assume is what gives the sweet notes for that “palate sweetness.”

Sometimes I find loose leaf tea just too much effort, so I was relieved to see these packets of tea bags. I love chamomile tea, and in fact am enjoying a cup of this exact tea right now. If you haven’t tried chamomile tea the latino way, I highly recommend it: with some milk and sugar. Sounds weird, but tastes delicious.
Whittard is an English company started in 1886.

What a good idea. These are absolutely delicious. I would prefer them to not be in individual packets, as I don’t appreciate the waste, but am still happy to have them. I actually have a maple candle from this same company that I purchased a few years ago. Love maple!
What an amusing item! Not sure it’s very September-like, but why not. Let’s reminisce about summer. I can’t see myself using this, but stranger things have happened.
Overall Impression
This is such an interesting and fun box. I don’t really like the stir stick, and I think maple sugar packets are a funny thing to choose for a sweet treat, but overall a swell box.
