Considering it’s October I was quite surprised that there were no fall, thanksgiving, or Halloween themed teas in this month’s box. That just might be the biggest surprise for this month’s T Surprise!

Inside the Box
I think the translation is wild tea tree buds from Jinggu. I’m not very familiar with white teas, but the flavour profile looks interesting. Maple sap and fir needle? Fascinating.
I haven’t been drinking green tea as much in the past few years. It never seems to taste as good as it does in restaurants. The one exception is the genmaicha tea from our Tea Runners box this month. Wow is that good. But I will get around to trying this eventually. Jasmine as a flavour is not something I’ve ever been drawn to, to be honest.
How cool is this. Dark chocolate and coconut!? Sounds delicious as a dessert, but how about as a tea?
It’s interesting that it says that this is huckleberry tea when there’s no huckleberry listed in the ingredients list. The tea is premium Sri Lankan (Ceylon) tea with natural flavours added, which I’m assuming would be the huckleberry.
Tony thinks these are disgusting. They’re not my favourite, but they’re not the worst, either. If you haven’t had these before, they are caramels from Brazil.
This is such a cute little tea steeper. Tony used it the other night for the genmaicha tea and it worked perfectly! I have a feeling it may even work better than our heart-shaped metal ones. In any case, this is a great addition to our tea supply.
Overall Impression
I’m quite interested in the dark chocolate and coconut tea. I’m very happy with the tea steeper. I’m fairly neutral on the caramels and the other teas in the box, but I can’t give a full opinion until I’ve tried them. I’m noticing that each month, there are three brands that have their teas featured: Nāo, Zyo, and Cha Yi. That’s neither here nor there, just an interesting thing that I had noticed.
