T-Surprise – November 2022

Still no fall-themed teas. Do the Quebecois not celebrate fall? Do they not like pumpkins? I guess tastes vary across the country. After all, the Tim Hortons in Quebec got rid of steeped teas. How blasphemous and sad. I’m itching to go back to Montreal though. So many great things come from Montreal.

Inside the Box

Cha Yi Pippin Apple

I do really enjoy apple cider, so this will be interesting to sample. This tea contains pink pepper, which was once banned by the US FDA. I had never heard of it before.

Zyo Wuyi Oolong

Oolong is a traditional semi-oxidized Chinese tea. I hadn’t heard about oxidizing teas before. This Wikipedia article on Oolong tea is a fascinating read.

Nāo Alps Elixir

I’m probably going to get this confused with the mint and dark chocolate one in the cupboard. My French is pretty terrible, but I’ll try to summarize the description: A myriad of lively and sunny colours, this alpine herbal tea offers powerful aromas of spring honey and orange jam. With a base of rooibos, ginger confit, and apple, the taste is deliciously sweet and lifting. The freshness of the peppermint mixed with the sweetness of passion flowers perfectly makes this a soothing infusion.

Oof my brain.

Tega Peach Tea

I was surprised to find this tea here. I recognized the brand, but couldn’t place it because the boxes are normally larger. I also had no idea that Tega is from Mission! I’m impressed!

I don’t like peaches and I don’t like peach-flavoured things, so this will be interesting to try. At least it has turmeric in it, which I don’t think will help the taste, but it will make me feel better about drinking it due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.

You can snatch this box of 10 bags for only $4.75 online.

Why the orca on the box, when orcas have nothing to do with peach or turmeric? Tega is “…bringing awareness to the plight of endangered Southern resident orcas in the Pacific Northwest and donating 10% of net profits to Georgia Strait Alliance to support orca conservation.” Cool.

Cella’s Chocolate-Covered Cherry

This chocolate made Tony choke, even though he enjoyed it immensely. I did not enjoy it so much and did not choke on it. There were two chocolates, but Tony ate one in the unboxing video (watch it if you want to see him choke).

SwanSteeper

Another tea steeper! How excellent. I love that it’s in the shape of a swan and looks like it will hold a fair amount of tea leaves. Our ability to consume loose leaf tea grows!

Overall Impression

This box was very sticky inside. I guess the cherry in the chocolate had leaked out everywhere. I’m glad we found the source, because that would be gross to never know what it was, but there you have it. This is a fine box, nothing has me extremely excited, but I’m not disappointed either.
