Maybe Quebec just doesn’t like fall, but they apparently like Christmas! There are not one, but two Christmas teas in December’s box.

Inside the Box

This is a black tea with orange peel, clove, ginger, cinnamon, and other natural flavours. This little sample will put you back $4.50 online.
Little Prayer Tea Co. is from Seattle, Washington.

I never would have guessed this would be a green tea, but it is. Along with its green base, it has cinnamon roots, orange pieces, balsam fir (how cool!) and natural essence. I assume the essence is flavour?
After eating a spruce-flavoured dessert at Pluvio in Ucluelet in early December, I’m all for trying different types of conifers.

I have not come across this brand of tea, but they claim they are the “finest name in tea since 1949.” I’m still not much of a connoisseur, so it’s possible, but people say anything and everything. Let me know if you’ve heard of this tea and what you think of it. Is the claim accurate?
You can get a carton of this tea for $12.99 online. I find it interesting that “hay” is a tasting note. Is this normal? It’s the second time I’ve come across it recently. I deal with hay on a daily basis, so I only think of it as fodder for animals. Never thought it would be a desirable flavour.
Steven Smith Teas are from Portland, Oregon. We’ve got a bit of a West Coast theme this month.

Tega again! No complaining here. They make a decent tea.
Having an ice wine tea is a bit confusing to me. I don’t really drink wine, and I’m not quite sure how you can flavour something with it. The smell is definitely interesting. It contains a mix of white tea leaves, licorice root, rosehip berries, orange peels, (a common thing this month), lemongrass, hibiscus, maple and ice wine flavours, and other “organic” flavour.
I have to make a note that I’m not impressed that a local company is using the American spelling for “flavour”. Despite their spelling, you can get your own box for $4.75 online.
If you missed it last time: Tega is “…bringing awareness to the plight of endangered Southern resident orcas in the Pacific Northwest and donating 10% of net profits to Georgia Strait Alliance to support orca conservation.” That’s why they have the orca in the design.
These are French truffles from what I can tell. Though the Christmas season has fed me too many sweets, I look forward to trying these once my palate can handle more sugar.
I think this might be my favourite surprise in the T-Surprise boxes. I like the star and the gold colour.
Overall Impression
I like this box. I think there is a decent variety of tea, and I like the spoon and look forward to devouring the truffles.
