I don’t really know how to describe T-Surprise. They boggle my mind, but not in a bad way. I would love to know how they choose their teas, treats, and especially the surprise each month. At the same time, the puzzlement is delightful.

Inside the Box

Tony is excited about this tea. I am not a big fan of lemon or citrus in general, but he is. I will try it, of course, but it is more than likely that this tea will be for him.
Cha Yi is a staple company for T-Surprise that has lost their store and now gone entirely online. They are based in Quebec.
This is a very cool tea that I have never heard of before. It is just one rose. That’s it. Despite having many rose bushes, I have never thought to make tea from the flowers. Apparently it can be steeped up to three times and can be enjoyed both hot or cold. We only got one packet of this one.
The Qi (pronounced “chee”) works directly with small family farms across Asia and is based in New York, USA.
We received five packets of this Earl Grey tea. I am so excited to try this one. My favourite cream of earl grey from Republica has been out for a while now, so I am very much looking forward to trying this one.
Metz is a UK company that also directly sources their teas from growers.
Going onto the site today, this flavour was front and centre of the home page. Does this mean it’s good? Or is it just that Google is really good at tracking me? I do love lavender-flavoured things and I’m very much looking forward to trying this. Unfortunately there were only 2 packets in the box.
Smith Tea is from Portland, Oregon and they are currently hiring!

I’m not a huge fan of candy, but if I’m going to eat it, strawberry is a pretty decent flavour. These taste a little bit like Starburst. I think if you enjoy candy, these are worth eating.
If I’m translating this right, this miniature whisk is supposed to be indispensable for tea connoisseurs. I’ve never used a whisk with my tea. I don’t get it, and I tried to find more information about tea whisks. The only results I can find are about matcha whisks, which are not what we have received. Weird. Do any of you use a whisk with your tea?
Overall Impression
I had a good laugh when I saw the miniature whisk. I love T-Surprise because it really is always a surprise. Unlike Tea Runners, which always sends excellent loose leaf teas, T-Surprise puts together who-knows-what for who-knows-why and I love it. This month I am really looking forward to three of the four teas, which is pretty darn good.
I tend to not read the card, because it’s in French and usually just describes the teas, but I’ve just noticed now that we weren’t supposed to get the sweet lemon tea from Cha Yi. We were supposed to get a golden turmeric tisane from Higher Living. Very odd. I don’t like receiving replacements with no notice (I’m looking at you Loti!) It’s also amusing that on the front of the card it says that the box is supposed to be like a jewel box with many colours between the green, black and white teas. All the teas this month were black except for the rose. See? T-Surprise is always a surprise!
