Inside the Box

This dish soap smells absolutely fantastic. It’s got a lot of ingredients that I couldn’t tell you where they came from, but it is registered as biodegradable, so at least there’s that. I’m excited to try this and the price is really reasonable.

Pure is a company from Quebec that started in 2009 with a focus on eco-friendly products. According to the label, they were the 1st Canadian company to be certified by ECOCERT. Cool.

Pure Glow Natural Vanilla Bath Bomb

Holy cow this smells amazing. I will be having a luxurious bath sometime in the future. I cannot find bath bombs on the website, so I’m not sure if this is a one-off item for Acre 75 or they’re just not producing them currently.

Pure Glow Natural is a company from Goderich, Ontario.

Rosewolf Siwk Key Chain – ~$10

This is a lovely little one-of-a-kind key chain that was wood-burned and made by hand. I’m definitely looking forward to using this for some keys. She has a lot of other types of cool art on her Instagram, so make sure to check her out.

This is a sample available in a home compostable packet. They provide free shipping of this sample if you would like to try it out.

The full jar is available online for $20.

Apt 6 is from Stratford, Ontario (where they have a Shakespeare-inspired fest every year!) and donates a portion of their profits to non-profits that support mental health for children. All products are purportedly non-toxic, so that’s another win!

These are delicious, and they come in perfect little squares for sharing. I definitely recommend trying them, and the ingredient list isn’t overly complicated.

This tea contains sweetfern leaf, and kuan yin oolong. They basically combine black, oolong, green, and chai (which just means tea in India) teas with wild harvested or organically grown herbs in Canada. I am very interested in trying this.

This is a cute little notepad from a company not far from where I am.

I love wool. I love natural fibres, and I love making use of a material that is mostly discarded by the sheep industry. Wool has so many good properties that are innate and so much healthier than manufactured materials. I ended up buying wool to insulate the roof of my garage as it has good insulating properties and is naturally fire resistant. It’s also safe enough for a total n00b like me to handle.

It’s not always easy finding 100% wool products, and I’m delighted that this company offers such a wide selection of products. Wool is also naturally antibacterial, which is a good quality to have for a sponge! I’m very much looking forward to trying these sponges and you should be seeing a review about them in the next few months.

Overall Impression

It’s still a bit disappointing that the retail value of the products is less than what is being paid for, which is very unlike most subscription boxes. I always figured the point of buying a box of things you might not want is that you’re getting them cheaper than if you went out and bought them all on your own. I hope that Acre 75 reaches that point, but it’ll have been 4 years in June, so I’m doubting it. I know this is Tony’s favourite box, and I love the support of small town businesses and the overall curation of it, but it’s not cheap and neither my blogging nor my YouTube have gained enough traction to garner free product or get paid to offset my expenditures. Oh well! It’s been fun (though very time-consuming) in the meantime.
