Inside the Box

Boody Bed Socks – $25.95

These socks are thick if you’re not used to wearing wool socks. They’re on the smaller end of a “one size” type of sock, so they’re not too big on me (for reference, my feet are a US 4.5). They’re very soft and cozy and made from 63% viscose from bamboo, 27% organic cotton, 9% nylon, and 1% lyrca. They came a 100% recycled paper bag printed with waterbased inks.

Boody was established in Australia in 2011 and has some certifications:

Organic Bamboo Fibre – EcoCert

Original Organic Bamboo – FSC certified fields

Oeko-Tex 100

Nuria Overnight Cream – $36 USD

At the time of writing, the Canadian website is practically non-functional. All but the home page are dead links, so the price is in USD and the product link here goes to the US website.

Nuria says: “We’ve found the world’s most enduring and effective skincare ingredients and enhanced these time-tested rituals with the best of modern science.” That sounds pretty decent. They also say that one of their features is “ingredients you can pronounce”, but I think they’re overestimating my ability to pronounce:

  • Squalane
  • Polyacrylate-13
  • Polyisobutene
  • Ascophyllum Nodosum
  • Fucus Serratus
  • Sodium Hyaluronate
  • Hydrolysate
  • Anhydroxylitol
  • Xylitylglucoside
  • Ethylhexyglycerin
  • Phenoxyethanol

Maybe I’m just bad at reading. Oh well.

The smell isn’t great, but isn’t as bad as some face creams I’ve tried.

**Update July 6 2023**

This product is awful. I’ve been using it for a couple weeks now, and it burns my face. Probably one of the worst face creams I’ve ever encountered. Their face mask wasn’t great either, so maybe it’s a Nuria problem.

Bath Bomb

This smells like bubble bath from the 90s. Now that I’m used to products with essential oils, the scent is a bit jarring.

I feel like this isn’t the only cake-scented product I’ve received in one of these boxes, but I can’t remember off hand what it was. A tea maybe?

It has a very sweet smell, like a typical faux vanilla cake and then garnished with gold flakes.

I can’t find any information about this business, and it honestly screams Chinese scam site at me. Where’s Loti’s product information sheet to prove me wrong?

Vitamasques are made in Korea and are free of phtalates, sulphates, and parabens (not the Portuguese kind). The company itself is British and has recently introduced fully biodegradable sheet masks and packaging. I don’t think that includes this one.

I bought some beeswax wraps at a local Lunar New Year’s market earlier this year and haven’t used them yet. I think I’m so used to not using plastic wrap that I don’t even think about wrapping leftovers in the original containers. I just put them in a container with a lid and call it a day. Or if I really plan ahead, I’ll serve it in a container with a lid.

Here I have another piece of beeswax wrap. It doesn’t say if this is a small or a medium one, and I don’t feel like measuring. The difference between a small and a medium is only 4 square inches anyway. The design is kind of bland, and must be from an outdated set as it is not available online.

Nothing Fancy is from the Midwestern United States and focuses on simple (nothing fancy) products.

I am grumpy. I got this in my November box. This is not an item I want more of. It will likely take years to use what we already have. I also got last month’s bonus item in that same box. Maybe they didn’t sell enough boxes in November so are getting rid of the items as the extra items?

Overall Impression

This was an okay box. Before I subscribed I had looked at the previous boxes and admired the contents, but now I can’t wait to be done with it. I’m never totally happy, and don’t end up using most of the products. I’m just not a “self-care” kind of girl.

I also tried the bath salts from the January box. The containers are so cute, but the smell was so bad I had to empty the bath water and start over!
