Overall Impression

I actually quite like this shampoo and conditioner.

There are three things though:

  1. It took a while to figure out how to wash my long hair with the bars.
  2. It took a while for my hair to adjust.
  3. It takes so much longer to wash long hair.

It took a few washes for my hair to adjust and the first wash left me very disappointed, but once I adjusted it was very lovely. My hair became softer and lighter than with the products I had been using prior. Recently I had to quickly wash my hair, so I used my boyfriend’s shampoo and an old conditioner of mine. Though much faster, my hair was not in very good condition after this wash. I was happy to go back to Tanit.

Though they are expensive, they last quite a while. I bought these back at the end of March of 2022, and though I didn’t start using them right away, my conditioner is still going strong. The shampoo, however, was fully depleted in about February 2023, so there is that discrepancy there. I wash my hair about once every 4 or 5 days depending on the season and activities I have been doing, so obviously don’t use me as a guideline for how long it will last if you wash your hair more often. The website suggests 25-35 washes, but I’m quite sure I got more than that.

I ended up not following their instructions on use as I didn’t like them. I lather it in my hands first, and then put it in my hair. I find that works better for me.

I took the picture of the conditioner (below) on April 17. You’ll notice two things:

  1. I still have a lot of conditioner left.
  2. It breaks very easily.

I’ve lost full chunks down the drain of both shampoo and conditioner because after time I guess it loses its structure and begins to fall apart. This is an annoying and disappointing part of these hair care bars.

Overall I do recommend these natural bars for a plastic-free option of hair care.
