Inside the Box
When people advertise “vegan leather” as a selling point, I imagine they’re really only impressing the vegans. To me it just reads “cheap” and that it won’t last more than a year or two. Regardless of how people feel about it, cattle are being killed for meat, which means hides are a byproduct. In my opinion, there’s no good reason to not use those hides for leather. Would it be better to toss them out? Goods made of leather last so much longer. I guess that’s part of the point, though, they want us to have to replace them sooner than later.
This photo key ring is a little large, and I would say a bit too cumbersome to use with my actual keys. I like to put my keys in my pocket, and this would prohibit me from doing that. It has two photo slots to take photos that are 1.5″ x 2.3″. Good luck getting pictures that size.
I’ve been looking for dividers for quite a while now, so I am very happy these came in this box. I’m not totally pleased that each tag overlaps with the months on either end, but it’s better than nothing. Why there isn’t a tag for 0-3 or newborn is surprising though. Sadly my closet is very poorly designed and I don’t have a lot of room to hang things anyway.
The quality isn’t bad. They are quite thick cardboard, about the same as the memory container from the last box. They should last a while, but are not a permanent fixture.
This t-shirt is made for babies aged 3-6 months. It’s made in Bangladesh of 100% cotton and needs to be laid flat to dry. This t-shirt is kind of feminine, and doesn’t quite suit my baby boy. I may or may not still dress him in it as I don’t know how I feel about it overall.
This is a shirt to match the baby’s shirt. I will never wear this in public, if I wear it at all. Cool moms club? I am not a cool mom, and if I were I would never join a club for that type of mother. The shirt is also a size small, and I didn’t really fit the small they sent when I was barely pregnant. This definitely does not fit comfortably postpartum! Do they design these for tiny women whose breasts don’t get any bigger with pregnancy/becoming a milk machine?

This growth chart comes in three pieces. The first two are to be put together for measuring the child. The third contains vinyl stickers for marking milestones. I’m surprised the company has it in centimetres. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m at a Canadian address or if all of these charts are in centimetres. I can’t imagine the Americans being pleased with being sent a metric growth chart. But also in Canada we measure people’s height in feet and inches, so… odd choice is all I’m saying.
The vinyl growth chart is clear and should stick easily to a wall without damaging the surface. I say should because I have yet to try it. A project for a day our baby actually sleeps on his own.
Update: May 23, 2024
I tried to put this on the wall. I cleaned the wall first but the paint would not allow it to stick. Sadly I had to throw it out.

I am happy to receive these cards as it gives me an activity to do with my newborn baby. The quality is pretty decent too. It’s fairly thick cardstock, but I would not give it to the baby to hold or play with as they would get destroyed quite quickly and easily.
Overall Impression
Compared to the rest of the boxes from Bump to Mom, I would probably put this in my top 3. The visual stimulation cards and closet dividers are really appreciated. The growth chart, assuming it is easy to install, will also come in handy and isn’t too ugly. The key ring is a nice idea, but quite impractical and I could do without it. The shirts are entirely unnecessary and the top doesn’t even fit me, should I ever want to wear it (quite unlikely). It’s not my style, but I’m sure other women would appreciate it. The shirt for the baby is meh, but overall a decent box.
