The Maple Box – Winter 2024

Maple is still behind in their shipping. They promised us it was getting resolved, alas it has absolutely not. We didn’t receive the Winter box until February 9, which is almost on par with last year. We have yet to receive one more box and then our Maple subscription is finished. Ciao Maple! But give us the spring box first since I’ve already paid for it.

It’s another Maple magazine filled with more Maple magazine things.

Tony loves walnuts and ginger, and thankfully I’ve gotten pears off of his bad list, so this is a great treat for him, and less so for me. That’s okay.

Jewels Under the Kilt is a Canadian brand from Fergus, Ontario.

This supplement contains Metafolin® L-5-MTHF, which is supposed to help collagen formation for skin resiliency and strength in hair and nails. That’s interesting. For the first time in my life my nails are hard, and besides having given birth, nothing is really different. I can’t for the life of me figure out why their structure has improved. It is not because of this because I have not (yet) taken this!

Pure Encapsulations is from Willington, Connecticut and was founded in the 1990s.

A. Vogel Echinaforce – $16.68

‘twas the season for cold and flu remedies. To be honest, though, in late April I still know too many people that are sick. I’ve been pretty lucky to avoid getting very sick this entire season, whereas other people have been hit multiple times. I’m very thankful because being pregnant and sick is not what I wanted, and having a newborn and being sick is also not what I want. I am so restricted in what I can or cannot take because of pregnancy and now breastfeeding. Le sigh. Avoid sickness at all costs!

A. Vogel was founded in 1963 in Switzerland.

I love moisturizers, but man I have a lot to use up. This one is apparently very concentrated so one only needs a small amount. It also expires in December 2024, so I must use it up quick. Ugh!

The scent is very rose heavy, though I have no idea what frankincense smells like.

Update May 3: This is so greasy! It’s basically straight oil. The smell is nice, but I would never wear it as a daytime moisturizer.

Helena Lane is from Vernon, BC.

Kosmea Rose Hip Oil – $19.95

More skincare. Woo. I would like to declutter my bathroom counter space, but that’s even harder now with a newborn. I can’t actually blame the newborn, but rather the lack of time that comes with having a newborn.

Rosehip oil is apparently like a multivitamin for the face. I feel like every facial oil companies sell claims the same thing. Is it true? I’ve never noticed a difference, but I haven’t done any proper tracking.

Kosmea is an Australian brand started by Marie Kapetanakis in 1993.

Oracle Deck Box
Guidebook & Oracle Deck

This is not my kind of art, but I don’t currently have an oracle deck. I’ve also never used one before. I’ve only used my tarot deck a handful of times in almost a year and a half. I’m happy that Zoë Pawlak got this contract, but I have no idea who she is. Apparently she’s from Vancouver, so she’ll need as many contracts as she can get to survive the ridiculous cost of living there.

Overall Impression

This was a meh box. I don’t like the walnuts, and I don’t need more skincare, I usually just end up throwing the supplements out, and I don’t like the oracle deck. I guess this was less than a “meh” box for me. There have definitely been better.

  1. Hello! Wondering if you ever received your Spring Maple Box? I have not though I was told shipping was held up and now the summer box is due.
