Bumby Wool – Breast Pads (Set of each with pouch)
Deep in my heart I believe it is best to use natural materials. It is better for us and the environment. Wool is an excellent material with a variety of useful properties that unfortunately often gets discarded because we no longer value its uses. Most wool is not soft enough for us to use for clothing anymore as we are used to more cozy options. All the sheep farmers I know take their annual wool clippings to the dump or burn pile. All that to say I appreciate seeing companies that offer woolen products!

The heavy duty and light duty are distinguishable not just by thickness of the pads but also by thread colour. The heavy duty has a sort of teal thread on the inside.
I always threw my pads in the dryer, despite their instructions not to. I think they’ve held up pretty well despite my bad care!
Overall Impression
I basically never use the pouch. I don’t even know where it is anymore.
The Goods:

The Not-So-Goods:
- Not totally waterpoof, so not good if you leak a lot and are wearing for a long time
- Triangle shape is an interesting choice
- Can be a little prickly
- Expensive
I like these, but they have not been my go to nursing pads so 2 sets are enough for me. They are touted to not stick to skin, but they definitely have stuck to my nipples before. I’ve also leaked through them, especially when wearing overnight (even the heavy duty ones!). The suggestion is to rinse and let dry between uses, but I didn’t find that practical, so I just threw them in the washer and dryer with the rest of my clothing.
I like that they don’t retain the smell of rotten milk, unlike pads made with synthetic materials. I don’t quite understand the triangle shape. They are the only ones I have with this shape, but they don’t stay on any better or worse than the others. They also have a glow-in-the-dark “B” on one side. I’ve never found it useful, but it is certainly unique. As with all breast pads, they claim to not show through clothing, but it is a blatant lie. They all show through clothing. Every last one that I’ve tried. How can they not unless you have a heavily padded bra?
I recommend these for people who are particular about only having natural fibres against their bodies. I do not recommend these for people who are on a budget.
