Obasan Organic Crib Mattress for Babies
Becoming a mother has made me paranoid about a variety of things. After panic-buying an adult mattress from Sleep Country in March that gave me headaches for weeks because the off-gassing was so bad (the mattress has since moved to the garage), I decided to not do that to my baby. I therefore looked into something non-toxic and natural for his crib mattress. I came across Obasan.

Overall Impression
I really like this mattress. It seems firm enough for babies, and comes with a complimentary wool cover, which I think is great. My baby is sweaty and pukey, so the wool cover helps keep him regulated and the mattress clean.

If you’ve never had anything made out of a significant amount of latex, you might not know how ridiculously heavy it is. Despite already knowing this I was caught off guard trying to move the mattress around. Honestly, I would like a full latex mattress for my own bed, but the expense and the weight keep me from making the plunge. I currently only have a latex topper, which was purchased years before I’d heard of Obasan.
As a side note, I have to say that Obasan showed me some of the absolute best customer service that I have experienced in a long time. I had an issue with my order that was resolved so quickly and completely that months later I am still blown away by it. For this reason alone I would recommend the company, but they also have an excellent product, so I actually have two good reasons to recommend Obasan’s crib mattress.
