I fell into the trap of trusting in silicone to be safe for feeding my baby. I bought these in store last October to feed my baby some solids. I knew better than to buy silicone, but I did it anyway.

I was a bit late purchasing foodware for my baby. He was 7 months, already eating solids, and I didn’t have any dishes for him. I’m bad for that sometimes. He didn’t even get his own cutlery until 17 months.

Overall Impression
I knew that these dishes were retaining flavour, but I finally put an end to using them when I finished off my baby’s soup and it tasted strongly of dish detergent. Nope, all done. I felt so bad that he’s been eating out of these for so long. At least he’ll most likely enjoy cilantro? Someone who has more patience with keeping them scent/taste-free can have them.
The Goods:
- Canadian company
- Non-toxic
- Suction bottoms
- Microwave & dishwasher safe
The Not-So-Goods:
- Silicone retains flavour
- this includes soap!
- Expensive
- Dirt, dust, pet hair, etc. stick really well to silicone
- Suction doesn’t stick well
I think most of my issues are because of the material. I personally wouldn’t buy them again, but I also probably won’t be buying anything silicone again. Someone who has the patience to treat the silicone to get the flavour out might do well with them. At least they are non-toxic and not plastic.
