I ordered one of these CloudMats back in August of 2025. I was waiting for the grey geometric mat to be back in stock and finally bit the bullet when it did and ordered one. Unfortunately their shipment of these mats arrived damaged, so the wait was fruitless. They did, however, make a great attempt to make things up to me. They gave me three options, and the one I chose was to upgrade to a larger mat with a different print. I chose the 6 x 9 Persian rug print.

I cleaned out our “storage” room in order to make a play room for my son. It’s open, on the other side of the kitchen, so it’s nice to be able to keep an ear on him when busy cooking. It took a lot of work to clean out that room. I noticed that the dust was really stuck on the floor and required a lot of effort to scrub off. I should have taken this as an early sign. I was always told there wasn’t a foundation under that room (because there isn’t) so I wanted a soft play surface that would help keep the room from being so cold. I got what I wanted, but also something else.

The mat definitely helped with the cold, and I spent a lot of time in that room working on things while my son played. I was so happy to have a safer place for my clumsy toddler. The bare floor was still very cold, but the new mat made it so cozy. I should have clued in that something was or would soon be amiss.

Sadly, because microfiber isn’t breathable, when the temperature changed it trapped a lot of moisture between the carpet (and couch, too) and ruined my wood floor, carpet, and couch, as well as became a breeding ground for mould. I found this randomly at the end of January (same day my dog’s tumour burst), and had to throw out the carpet because the dots had fuzzy mould on many of them and it seemed too daunting to try to clean. So I got about 5 months from the mat, a little more than $1/day. I thoroughly enjoyed it while I had it, but it’s obviously not something suitable for that room. Le sigh.
Overall Impression
I really liked this mat. It looked pretty as long as you didn’t look at the print too closely, and it was nice and squishy. My only complaint is the lack of breathability. It obviously resulted in trapped moisture for the room, but it also made my feet sweat, which is a quirky reaction my body has to certain materials. The dots on the bottom made it stay in place nicely, but it remained easy to move when necessary. They did send things to stick on the bottom of the mat to make it stay in place better, but I never needed them.
While writing this post I have discovered that their selection has increased dramatically, and they even do custom orders now! They have dozens, if not hundreds, of designs to choose from.
The Goods:
- Custom designs
- Comfy
- Fairly grippy
The Not-So-Goods:
- Not very breathable
- The printed design doesn’t look good up close
Good for People Who:
- Want a thick mat that looks like a rug
I would recommend these mats to anyone who is looking for a foam-filled microfiber rug that won’t slide around.
