I was tired of having to switch the car seat between the car and the truck all the time, or being stuck at home with the child because the vehicle with the car seat was being used, so I bought a Clek on sale. I actually wanted the new Nuna Rava Next, but 5 months after the US release, it’s still not available in Canada. Clek is a Canadian brand, so I decided to go that route instead of waiting for an undefined release date. Since I was on the Clek site, I saw this p-thingy. My son had had some accidents in the car seat previously and it’s such a PITA to clean, so I saw this as a necessary accessory for the new seat.

We’ve been doing lazy EC since my son was 9 weeks, but he never developed the desire to not pee in his diaper. We ditched the diapers at home during the day when he was about 18 months old, and then we ditched the diapers going out at around 22 months. However, since we never understood his signals, and he wouldn’t use his words, there were bound to be accidents. When habits are in place, sometimes they’re hard to break and he did pee in his car seat a few times, even after he was no longer having accidents anywhere else. Funnily enough after getting this, he’s only had one accident in the car, and I’m happy to say I think it will be his last.
It says it’s only compatible with the Clek convertible car seat, and that is technically true. I have managed to fit it on the Graco 4Ever, but it’s not a great fit. It fits perfectly in the Clek, of course, and the one accident my son had in it, the pee did not go through to the seat. Unfortunately the buckle cover ended up soaked in pee, but I don’t think that’s the fault of the p-thingy.
Overall Impression
In my experience, this p-thingy works well. The top part doesn’t feel like plastic, which is nice, and the wool blend helps make it more breathable and keep the moisture away. If you’re getting a Clek car seat for a toddler or baby, I think this is a good addition.
The Good
- No PFAS
- Functional
- Protects fully around the buckle
- Machine washable
The Not-So-Goods:
- Doesn’t protect buckle cover
- Delicate washing & air dry
- Expensive
Good for People Who:
- Have a Clek car seat and are potty training or doing EC with their child
I think this is an essential item for anyone with a Clek car seat that is potty training. I dread the day I ever have to actually clean the car seat.
