Levana Nala Baby Monitor (Open Box)
I don’t really know why it took me so long to get a baby monitor, but it did. It might have been that “decision paralysis” I tend to suffer from (I relate to Chidi from The Good Place). I originally got the Viyü at a local baby store as they only had two options there, but I did not like it at all. Of course then I started getting ads for baby monitors, so when I found out Levana was a Canadian company, I soon decided to give their cameras a try.

There are so many options for baby monitors out there, but not a lot to see in person in my area. I was a bit nervous purchasing such an expensive item that might break soon after, so I went for the open box option, which I believe was $50 cheaper at the time. I got the set that came with two cameras.

First off I was impressed with the case that it came in. I like having dedicated storage cases for products for when they’re not in use or when I need to transport them. All my concerns with it being open box soon dissipated. Everything was there and worked properly.

I’ve been using these cameras consistently for over a year now, and they’ve honestly been great. The monitor has a 5.5″ screen, which I find to be a very nice size. It’s on its own network, so no one can hack it. I find the visual quality fantastic, and the lullaby options are fun. It says it has up to 1000ft signal, but I haven’t found that to be the case. Even so, I can bring the monitor to one side of the barn and still get signal, it just doesn’t quite make it past the next two walls. The other thing I appreciate about this baby monitor is that it is tough. The cameras and the monitor itself have been dropped multiple times. One of the cameras has been dropped at least 100 times and it’s no worse for wear. There is also a way to mount them on the walls, but I have not attempted that. The cameras have a good range of how far they can move, side to side and up and down, which is operated on the monitor. The battery also lasts quite a long time, and we’ve never had a issue with it dying on us. I like to use the two-way communication system to tell my toddler to go back to sleep, that I’ll come get him in a minute, or that he can come to me at whatever location I happen to be at.
Overall Impression
Despite being open box, my experience with these cameras has been flawless. There is no annoying light coming from the camera when it is on, whereas I had to tape the Viyü blue light. I like the fact that the monitor is not on my phone, so I can actually use my phone, and the quality is so good, with features that I wasn’t expecting.
The Good
- Clear picture
- Good night vision
- Lullabies
- Two-way sound
- Decent range
- Private network
- Tough
The Not-So-Goods:
- The time has to be changed every couple of months because it ends up lagging
Good for People Who:
- Want a good quality baby monitor on its own network with lots of features
I am so happy with my purchase of the Levana Nala 2 camera baby monitor set, and I would recommend it to anyone.
