Peko Produce – December 19 2022

This is our second box from Peko Produce. Most of the produce looks to be in better shape this time except for the tomatoes, which have some mould on them. This is a pretty nice variety that contains quite a few things that we commonly eat, and others we like to eat but rarely purchase. I’m much happier with this box, despite not having delicious things like mangoes (even if they’re squished!)

Inside the Box

This week we had:

~8 baby bok choy

3 potatoes

1 yellow onion

1 red onion

3 limes

7 lemons

4 avocados

1 orange

1 carrot

1 bunch of bananas

9 white mushrooms

3 eggplants

1 bag of snap peas

1 bunch of radishes

2 pears

1 container of tomatoes, some mouldy

Overall Impression

Overall I’m happier with this box than the last one. I think more of the items are in better shape, and it includes more items that I actually use, except for that exorbitant amount of lemons. The limes make me think we should be making tacos this week, so hopefully we act on that inspiration. Yum yum!

I was on vacation last week and wasn’t able to add any pantry items like the ramen kit, which I would have loved to have tried. Unfortunately for me, they’ve since sold out! We’ll keep trying with Peko, because I do still like the idea of it and maybe they are good more often than bad. Only time will tell.

    1. I’m not sure. They say they’re not supposed to be sending rotting/mouldy stuff, but it’s clearly getting past their quality control. It happens at the grocery store too, but at least one can be diligent at the grocery store.
