Spiral Rain: Witch & Ohm – November 2022

Dragons!! How cool! I remember looking at the box calendar in July and seeing that dragon was one of the themes, but I had totally forgotten. I really like dragons. If I were to get a tattoo, it would be of a giant dragon climbing up my right side. My dad, who often reads these posts, will be happy to know that I have no plans to get a tattoo.

In early November Rani sent out a list of FAQ, a number of which I had publicly wondered about. I can now relay the answers to some of those questions!

Q: Why aren’t the booklets folded?

…”Most of my subscribers that purchase the booklet, like to remove the staples, and cut the pages in the middle. A folded booklet usually leaves dents. I fold the books of those I know find this an issue or a sign of laziness but ultimately respect the wishes of the majority. If this is an issue for you, please just let me know and I will fold your booklet.“

Q: Why can’t I find what’s inside the boxes on the website?

“Items created for the box themes aren’t meant to be on the website. That is what makes them an exclusive collection. I make and purchase a set amount of items depending on the theme and amount of subscribers I currently have, plus some extras for new subscribers. This way I am not left with a ton of items after the month is done and no where to store them. When I do have leftovers, they are placed on the website the following month.”

Q: Why do you wrap everything in different colours in the combo boxes?

“I currently prepare 4 different boxes each month and have several subscribers that purchase all 4 shipped in 1 box. Colour coding the items makes it easier to differentiate which item belongs to which box. Apothecary = Green | Crystals = Pink | Ohm = Purple | Witch = Black”

Inside the Box

This month it is stapled and folded! Someone who knows Rani recently watched one of our YouTube videos, so I wonder if the comments were passed on, and that’s why it ended up being a FAQ answer.

Aside from the regular contents of the booklets, there are sections on protection crystals and magick as well as dragon witchcraft.

The November booklet has some news for 2023, which includes two new boxes! There will be a Witch Class Box, which was originally supposed to be a workshop, but will be a 12-month class through subscription boxes. There will also be a new Sabbat box to help celebrate the holidays. Rani will also be making the digital grimoire available to all subscribers. This will solve my complaint of receiving it so late in each month that half the dates are already done by the time I get to it.

These pages are so fun. They have a dragon invocation, and then a call and dismissal for each of the 4 cardinal directions.

Aaaaaaaah. I have finally figured out what BOS pages are. I had looked it up before but Google was not my friend at the time. Now I know that BOS stands for Book of Shadows. I am enlightened, haha!

I really like incense. I don’t remember if there was any in my life before my (now ex) step-dad came into it, but we always had incense when he was around. This smells quite lovely and is a blend of natural ingredients and fragrances. I have a fun “Smoking German” cone incense holder that my brother-in-law gave me because he received it as a gift and didn’t want it. Check out my instagram to see the lad having a smoke of dragon’s blood. I get such a kick out of it.

Continuing on with the dragon theme we have some dragon ritual diffusing oil, which smells absolutely divine! It contains essential oils of cedar wood, patchouli, sweet orange, dragon blood, cinnamon leaf, and obsidian chips. I love it. I also love that the bottle has been decorated with some twin and two dragon charms.

Another 8oz candle! What a beautiful tin it came in, and the candle itself looks amazing as well. I love all the details put into it and the lovely smell. Definitely one of my favourite items in this month’s box.

I hadn’t yet taken the dragon out of the box, so the picture has it facing the wrong way. There actually are full details on it. Easy enough to put on and take off. I also really like the black and gold colour combo. It’s made of zinc alloy, so will likely change colour over time. Rani actually made these, so extra props to her. I am a fan.

I like the idea of this, but not so much the execution of it. The art is just a bit too cheesy for me, though I do generally like sun catchers.

I know absolutely nothing about astrology dice. I had never even heard of them before, so I’m glad there are four pages explaining it. I also like how the first line reads “It is acceptable if some of you have not heard about Astrology dice…”. I didn’t think there would be any moments where it wouldn’t be acceptable, but I’m glad it is ;)!

These astro dice are beautiful and I’m excited to see what they’re all about. Even if all I do is use them as a fidget item, I’m delighted. They fit perfectly in my hand.

This is a decent little planner. I’m not a fan of the actual planner and notebook inside being held in by a string. It was easy to change the orientation of it due to this (it was upside down), but overall kind of awkward. That being said, another benefit to being held in place by the string is that it will be easy to replace at the end of the year.

I absolutely loved this book. Very cute and great for a chuckle.

This is a wooden bookmark. It’s nice, but I don’t like wooden bookmarks. They’re just not very good bookmarks as they’re very thick.

I’m just realizing now how poorly I edited this photo. The cloth is purple, but in the photo it looks very blue. This cloth can be used as an altar cloth, table centrepiece, or wall hanging.

This long necklace has a dandelion seed inside what I think is resin. Here’s to a fabulous wish!

Stickers! Tony especially is a big fan of stickers.

Overall Impression

This box was absolutely great. So many interesting and high quality items. I think this might be my favourite box so far, although they all have had many great items in them. The candle and the book are my favourite items. Tony’s favourite is the candle. Excellent box overall.
